Your First Visit

Your first acupuncture visit is a relaxing and informative experience designed to address your health concerns and overall well-being. To prepare, wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms and legs. It’s best to eat a light meal beforehand and avoid caffeine, as this helps your body respond optimally to the treatment.
At the beginning of your appointment, we will conduct a thorough intake, asking about your health history, lifestyle, and specific concerns. This conversation helps create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. We will also check your pulse, examine your tongue, and discuss any patterns of imbalance based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles.
Once the intake is complete, you’ll lie comfortably on a treatment table while we gently insert very thin, sterile needles into specific points on your body. You may feel a mild sensation, such as warmth or a slight tingling, but the process is generally painless. As the needles work to restore balance, you’ll have time to relax—many people even drift into a light nap. After about 20–30 minutes, the needles are removed, and your session concludes.
Following your treatment, you’ll likely feel deeply relaxed, and it’s common to feel more tired than usual later in the day. This is your body’s natural response as it integrates the effects of acupuncture. Staying hydrated and resting when needed will support your system as it rebalances. Over the next day or two, you may notice shifts in your energy, mood, or symptoms, all of which indicate your body’s healing response.
Your first acupuncture session is the start of a journey toward improved health and well-being. Each treatment builds upon the last, helping you achieve lasting results over time.
